High summer

It is late July, a time when there is probably no better place on earth to be than our fair slice of the northeastern coast. Papa has happily reintegrated himself into family life, his globetrotting spurt behind him. Here are a couple of snapshots from yesterday.

There’s no place like home

Finding my triplet sons in grand spirits upon my return from Serbia, and my better half none the worse for wear, I resumed work on my opera. Well, it’s sort of true (the first part), but writing that sentence proved somehow irresistible (I mean, how many other people could write it?).

I am home and back in the swing of things – and “things” even includes tending to this poor neglected blog. The boys are still themselves, just a little bit more so. The last two weeks have served, as I’m told certain illicit substances do too, to intensify their personalities and, in the case of Pablo and Levi, heighten the astounding effect of their rock star hairdos. I have vowed that I will administer the first haircut when the time comes, an act my own father perpetrated upon me, but can thank gravity that the time is not particularly near. The hair grows and grows, but grows straight up, and though the boys’ beseeching eyes sometimes seem to scream out, “father…product….now!” I am content to let nature ¬†express her deviant humor on the scalps of my sons for some short while longer.

Let’s see, I must have a photo around here somewhere…

Pablo is looking right at the camera. This is because he is situated at too far a remove to enjoy this book in his typical manner (which is to say, to eat it).

A new lullaby for the boys…

Friends,

This quick update, written from Serbia, where I’ve been away from Al and the gang for over a week now. Mary Bastoni is the first to have answered my call to write a lullaby, and she’s done a brilliant job of it. I can’t tell you what it was like to watch this while being separated from the brothers S by thousands of miles. Have a look and listen!

just a song before I go…

Hi friends.

No time to explain – I am off to Serbia tomorrow, and will be away from big Al and the boys for 10 days. The prospects for this blog being very active during that time are, let’s be honest, pretty slim. Don’t despair – I’ll be back w/ a vengeance before too long. (and don’t entirely despair for Al, she’ll have help from relatives-a-plenty).

Just a couple of photos from the last few days. We had a real adventure with our city cousins last weekend, and I’ve got pictures to prove it. But we’ll have to wait a bit for those.

Quiz: Can you name these two guys? (the one on the right’s a cinch)
