Thanks everyone!

Hi all,

A quick new note from Papa Smurf (since I figured you were starting to get the bends after no update in over an hour!)

Alex and I are so grateful for all the support and the outpouring of love from all of you. I haven’t had a chance to reply, Ringo-style, to every single comment, but I’m reading every single one aloud to Alex and each makes her so happy. We still haven’t seen the boys in the NICU, but word on the street is that they’re stabilized and are ready for our visit. Alex is recovering well, but she’s a touch light headed so we’re waiting to move her. Once we do move her, it’ll be to a luxury post-partum room on the 4th floor, panoramic views, caviar, Swedish massage. That’s what I’m told. And we’ll see the boys and we can’t wait.

Anyway – thanks thanks thanks for all the love. We’re sending it right back at you, and there are five of us now so WATCH OUT.

Congrats! Congrats! Now, after everyone sleeps happily for a while, a painted schoolbus can be found, adventures can commence, and art and life can begin apace. Yay!

WOW!!WOW!!WOW!! Congratulations from Toby Henry and Mary!!!! I’m so happy that you all are well, all five of you! It’s beyond my comprehension; there’s nothing like the reality of having just brought three new spirits into the world to understand what it would be like to bring three new spirits into the world. (You’ll have to get used to repetition so why not start now.) May the power be with you.

We were just out driving around, gazing up at maine med, and thinking about how much has changed for you both in the past few hours. We’re so happy for you and we’re savoring the updates.
(side note from neil: dan, you are creating dangerous expectations in my spouse and immediate family- but keep the updates coming anyway.)
Looking forward to a visit with the five of you soon.

Wow! The boys look fantastic! We can’t wait to see them in their matching baseball/band/artist smock uniforms! We are also thrilled that Alex is doing well. Dan, we are amazed that a terrified and adrenalin-filled father managed to not only keep his fingers from shaking uncontrollably, but also managed to write in complete sentences (better than some presidents or would be vice presidents we know). Bless your five hearts.

We are so happy that all of the little buddies and Mother (you too Dan) are all doing well. Truly remarkable. Thank you so much for all the work during this experience in sharing it with all of us who have been thinking of you over the last few days.

So I’ve formally met Dan only in the last three weeks and don’t know Alex at all, but your story has captivated me. I’ve shared it with my wife and my own three kids, who differ from yours in having been born over a span of seven years (and being a dozen years older!). In any case, I’m delighted for you and with how comparatively smoothly things seem to have gone today. Congratulations!

There is nothing like the euphoria of looking in the eyes of a newborn. And the first time you say the words, “My son.” (“My daughter” is just as exciting, by the way.) Congratulations. Soon I can empty my basement of those diapers I’ve been collecting!

Thank you all – there are too many of you to enumerate, but your comments mean so much to us.

Dorritt – I *will* single you out to just to tell you how much we LOVED your amazing card! (a hand painted stork delivering three babies…so fantastic).

Will be in touch w/ all of you in the days, weeks, months and years to come!

    xo
